Wealdstone sign former Brentford and Crystal Palace midfielder
Wealdstone Football Club are thrilled to announce the signing of exciting midfielder Giovanni McGregor.
The 23-year-old joins from Dulwich Hamlet and has penned a two-year deal with the Stones. The training compensation fee due for the out-of-contract player is set to be decided by tribunal. Manager Stuart Maynard has been a long-time admirer of the midfielder, who learnt his trade in the Academy at Brentford and then Crystal Palace, so was delighted to get the deal done.
"Gio is somebody that we tried to add last season to the group but was under contract," said Maynard. "We’ve had to be patient as he’s had interest from pro clubs and has been in with a couple up until now. He’s a gifted technician and has good athleticism too. He will add to what is already a strong midfield, so it’s brilliant we’ve been able to get the deal done and know he’s going to add a lot to the group." McGregor is serving a two-game suspension so will not be available for selection until the away game with Solihull Moors on October, 10.
