News From The Vale
Following Tuesday night’s dramatic 3-2 victory against Tamworth, Gary Waddock opened up on his footballing philosophy saying “yes I’d like to keep a clean sheet, but I’d be quite happy winning games 7-6.” You can find his full post-match interview here.
There is a feel-good factor running through the entire club at the moment as the Wealdstone Women’s side secured an impressive 1-0 victory over Fusion FC, the previously unbeaten leaders of the GLWFL!
Manager Saj Vigneswaran was elated at the turnaround the team have managed to effect this campaign, as Fusion comfortably beat the Stones on the opening day of the season. “Huge credit to all the players”, Vigneswaran said. “Their hard work and togetherness make the difference in the tough moments”.
The Board of Directors was delighted to announce that the club's future at Grosvenor Vale has been secured by the signing of a new lease expiring on May 31, 2036. Read more about this hugely significant moment for the club here.
Finally, the Wealdstone FC Foundation have announced their Easter holiday camps, with both football and multisport camps available at the Vale and at Brunel University Sports Campus, where the first-team train. Click here to find out more information.
Our man in form - Sean Adarkwa: Since making his first start following a lengthy injury layoff against Brackley Town, Sean Adarkwa has certainly been living up to the song that Stones fans sing about him, as he has been “putting on a show”!
The frontman marked his return to the starting XI with a goal before giving the Stones the lead in their next match against Kidderminster Harriers.
Adarkwa was then incredibly impactful off the bench against Braintree Town, playing a key role in wrestling momentum away from the home side and in Micah Obiero’s second goal.
Last time out, Adarkwa showed his strength to win a long ball and play it to Dom Hutchinson, whose cross he fired into the bottom corner of the net.
The number 27 has three goals in his last five games, and was named in the Enterprise National League Team of Midweek on Wednesday.
Great work, Shaun!
The Opposition
Recent form: LDLDL
League Position: 14th
Following the Stones’ good recent run, they have jumped ahead of Solihull Moors, who have been out of sorts themselves, in the league standings.
The Moors appointed former FC Halifax Town man Chris Millington as the club’s new manager just a few weeks into the season. He has very much steadied the ship in the West Midlands as they are 10 points clear of relegation, but also nowhere near the playoffs after just one win in their last nine league games.
The reverse fixture: The points were shared when the Stones travelled to Solihull earlier in the campaign.
It was the home side who made the brighter start, Emmanuel Sonupe testing Dante Baptiste from a narrow angle early on.
However, the Stones grew into the game, Nathan Tshikuna forcing Laurie Walker into a save after the Moors couldn’t properly clear a Wealdstone free kick.
But it was Solihull Moors who opened the scoring. Walker’s long ball forward bounced through to Sonupe, who produced an inch-perfect finish to beat Baptiste.
This lead did not last for long, as the Moors once again failed to clear a free-kick and the ball fell to Omar Mussa on the edge of the box, who fired a powerful strike into the bottom corner!
The second half started in a cagey fashion, but Joe Sbarra was inadvertently played through on goal on the hour mark and forced Baptiste into a good save.
Wealdstone created a couple of half-chances, but Darius Lipsiuc had the best chance to win the game in the 81st minute. His diving header from inside the six-yard box was saved by Baptiste with just nine minutes of normal time remaining!
The danger man - Conor Wilkinson: After struggling for fitness and form in the first half of the season, one of the most experienced strikers in the fifth tier has burst into life since the start of 2026.
Conor Wilkinson has scored at a good rate in his 200+ EFL appearances, whilst averaging just under a goal every other game in the National League.
He netted 13 times in 30 league games for the Moors last season, and he is their top scorer this campaign with eight goals in 20 appearances.
Although the Moors have struggled to win games recently, they have not struggled to score goals, largely thanks to the good form of their target man. Wilkinson has netted four times in his last five games for the club.
