Wealdstone make double striker swoop

Wealdstone FC are delighted to announce the double signing of exciting forwards Simeon Akinola and Micah Obiero on permanent deals.

Akinola, 30, is a well-travelled and well-respected striker and knows the National League inside out having enjoyed spells at Boreham Wood, Braintree Town, Barnet, Harrow Borough and Southend. He scored 21 goals in 55 league starts for Barnet.

"Simeon is probably very well known to people as he’s been a clinical goalscorer in this league," said manager Stuart Maynard. "We’ve got a lot of ability in our group, but Sim is someone with the natural goalscorer movements, which is something that is very hard to teach. He’ll be somebody that will be in the right place at the right time, as well as offering his experience and link play to the rest of the group. He’s an unbelievable pro and a very intelligent human being on and off the pitch. It’s a pleasure to have him join us."

Obiero, a 21-year-old graduate of Huddersfield's Academy, joins the Stones following a short spell at National League North side Boston United.

"Micah is somebody we tried to get in the summer, but ended up at Boston," said Maynard. "We’ve watched him a lot for Huddersfield and like his game, so he’ll fit in to what we want. He athletic, can dribble and works incredibly hard. He’ll be a great addition and we’re looking forward to working with him."
