THE CONTEXT

Wealdstone complete a league and cup double-header on the weekend as both sides kick off their 2022/23 FA Cup journeys. Both sides met in the National League last week with Luke Garrard's Boreham Wood side coming out 2-1 victors at the Stones' Grosvenor Vale home. Stuart Maynard's men look to avenge last week's defeat with the ultimate prize of reaching the FA Cup 1st Round and having the opportunity to meet sides from the EFL and also gain sought after prize money.

ONE TO WATCH

Femi Ilesanmi put in a solid shift at The Vale on the weekend. The defender was a stalwart last season playing in 45 games and has formed a solid partnership with Jamal Fyfield with the centre-back pairing now in their fifth season together at the heart of Boreham Wood's defence.

TEAM NEWS Ashley Charles returns from his one-game suspension that ruled him out of the league meeting between the sides. Max Kretzschmar is still a couple of weeks away from a return to the action, with Malachi Napa and Jack Cook also doubts having missed the weekend's action. Stones boss Stuart Maynard was boosted by new arrivals to the squad and handed debuts to Giovanni McGregor, Micah Obiero and Simeon Akinola on the weekend, with the latter grabbing the Stones only goal.

WHAT WAS SAID?

Matt Saunders: “If we keep playing how we are playing then we will get the rewards, it's near on impossible not to. It's huge for us that the fans are on board on Saturday, I know Boreham Wood don't usually have a large fanbase, so we can go there and make it feel like a home game.

"We're coming off the back of a defeat and that will be a huge lift to the players and lift everybody. Some of the football we've shown the fans this season has been brilliant, we wish we could give them more points, but for the management team getting to the First Round and giving the fans that is huge for us. It wasn't the best draw as Boreham Wood are the highest ranked team in our section but after Saturday I feel like they will be worrying about us more than we are them."

Luke Garrard: "Wealdstone are a very tough outfit. Like us on Saturday they were hit with suspensions and injuries and neither side played their strongest team and we'll learn from Saturday. We've had another long-term injury in Connor Stevens and had seven players missing so I'm going to have to ring my chairman and get more bodies in the building.

"They're going to have a little edge about them to right the wrongs of last week because they lost and we will cater the week to prepare for them and prepare to get a win in the FA Cup."

DID YOU KNOW?

Boreham Wood FC use the town of Borehamwood's traditional double-worded name, opting not to change to the single-word version when the parish name was changed to Elstree and Borehamwood in 1982.
