MATCH REPORT | Bedford Town 2-2 Wealdstone

It was another draw on the road in pre-season for Wealdstone as they picked up a 2-2 draw at Bedford Town's The Eyrie ground.

The Stones twice came from behind with a first half equaliser from Jack Cook and a second half equaliser from Craig Fasanmade.

The friendly marked the end of the Stones pre-season camp in Bedfordshire and Stones boss Stuart Maynard opted to start with a side comprised of five trialists.

Bedford were slightly further along their pre-season journey and that added fitness showed in the early stages with them taking the lead on 12 minutes.

Goalkeeper Alex Street's long free kick was held up by Callum Donnelly who played in Connor Tomlinson down the left, who then executed a deft lob over Trialist A in the Stones goal.

Wealdstone responded quickly though and the set piece training from camp this week was rewarded with Cook heading in from a Jack Cawley knockdown on 23 minutes.

Wholesale changes came at half time with the entirety of the Stones bench entering the pitch, leaving just one trialist on the pitch in goal and ten first team players. Only Cawley and Dan Wishart survived from the first half.

The Stones looked the sharper of the two sides and were kept out a number of times by the Eagles goalie Street.

And it was Street who had another big involvement in the hosts second goal. He collected from a Stones corner and reacted quickly to launch a ball forward to Dan Walker who beat his defender and slotted past Trialist F in goal to restore the hosts lead.

It wouldn't be until 77 minutes when the Stones found their second equaliser. Some tenacious from Rhys Browne on the Stones wing to keep hold of the ball, then found Fasanmade at the far post with the easiest of tap ins to make it 2-2.

Wealdstone are next in pre-season action on Tuesday night as they make the short journey to Chesham United, a reminder that the kick off time has been changed for this game and has been slightly brough forward to the earlier kick off time of 7:30PM.
