Stones donate to Muscular Dystrophy UK
Following our televised fixture against Sutton United on BT Sport, man of the match Ross Lafayette was presented with a £200 cheque to go to a charity of his choice by National League sponsors Vanarama.
Ross has kindly offered to donate his £200 man of the match award to our official 2020/21 charity partner Muscular Dystrophy UK.
His kind offer has also been matched by the management team of Dean Brennan, Stuart Maynard, Kirk Rayment, Gary King and Gary Anderson and also the club's Board of Directors, taking the donation total to £600. Stones boss Dean Brennan said: "Myself and the management team wanted to match Ross' donation to a cause that is very close to our hearts here at the club. "We have a big community ethos here, particularly over the past few months where hardship has hit a lot of people in the country and in our Wealdstone family; we are all in this together and felt this was the very least we could do."
You may have seen the Muscular Dystrophy logo on the back of our shirts throughout this season and we're proud to use the power of sport to bring exposure and raise awareness to their research and care.
There are currently few effective treatments and no cures available, but research to develop potential treatments is showing great promise.
