REPORT: Wealdstone 7-0 Hartlepool Utd

Wealdstone were in seventh heaven as they thrashed Hartlepool United 7-0 with an incredible performance at The Vale.

A hat trick from talisman Micah Obiero, along with goals from Dylan Kadji and Anthony Georgiou sealed a five-star first-half for the Stones, with Enzio Boldewijin and Olufela Olomola completing the rout in the second-half.

Gary Waddock made five changes to the side that booked their place at Wembley in the Isuzu FA Trophy at the weekend. Enzio Boldewijn, Anthony Georgiou, Jack Wells-Morrison, Dom Hutchinson and Dylan Kadji returned to the starting line-up for the Stones.

Obiero started where he left off on Saturday, netting within four minutes of kick-off as he seized on a long ball, glided past the defender and smashed the ball home past Nick Hayes from a tight angle.

Three minutes later, the Stones doubled their advantage as Georgiou burst down the flank and found Kadji free in the box, with the midfielder clinically slotting past Hayes.

Against the run of play, the Pools did have the ball in the back of the net in the 16th minute via former Stone Alex Reid, but the referee ruled the goal out for offside.

By the 22nd minute, in form Obiero had made it three nil, reacting quickest to a spilled shot from Hayes and tucking home to notch his brace.

Three minutes later, hot-shot Obiero had sealed his hat trick, making a superbly timed run to latch onto Nathan Tshikuna’s sublime pass, before rounding Hayes and tapping home.

The onslaught continued as the rampant Stones bagged their fifth goal in the 33rd minute; Georgiou pouncing on another parried shot from Hayes and coolly firing home.

After conceding five goals in the first-half, Pools’ boss Nicky Featherstone rang in the changes for the second-half in the hope of galvanising his team.

However, Wealdstone returned from the interval in the same attacking vein, with Obiero volleying a rebound over the crossbar, after Hayes was at full-stretch to deny Georgiou’s driven effort in the 52nd minute.

Despite being five to the good, the Stones were relentless in their pursuit of another goal and skipper Boldewijn provided the sixth in the 70th minute; his long-range shot was deflected past Hayes into the net.

The Stones were still not finished with scoring as substitute Olomola netted the seventh in the 86th minute, rifling a shot from inside the box that was diverted past Hayes into the bottom corner.

Wealdstone return to action on Good Friday when they travel to Meadow Park to face Boreham Wood in a 3pm kick-off.
