PREVIEW | Watford U23s (H)
Premier League side Watford send their U23 squad to Grosvenor Vale this evening as the Stones line-up in their penultimate friendly of the 2021 summer pre-season.
The Stones will be looking to continue their unbeaten run after a ruthless 2-1 victory over National League South title favourites Dorking Wanderers on the weekend.
Tickets for the evening are priced at £8 Adults, £4 Concessions and £2 U18s and can be bought online HERE or on the turnstile on the evening.
The Hornets U23s meanwhile have lost all but one of their pre-season matches, losing to Bromley (5-0), St Albans City (2-1), Hemel Hempstead Town (3-0) and Hitchin Town (2-1) and picking up a goalless draw at Chesham United.
Led by former Leyton Orient boss Omer Riza, the Hornets U23s side is likely to include a mix of young players and first team players vying for fitness. The side that played at St Albans last week included the likes of Will Hughes, Stipe Perica, Tom Dele-Bashiru and Marc Navarro.
As well as, the exciting younger players of Joseph Hungbo, Maurizio Pochettino, Henry Wise and Derek Agyakwa who have all made first team appearances.
There are a number of connections in the Stones camp with Andrew Eleftheriou, Connor Stevens, Ashley Charles and Dennon Lewis former Watford Academy players. Last season's Watford loanees Sonny Blu Lo-Everton and George Langston could feature but both have been involved in and out of Watford's first team pre-season fixtures this summer.
Watford last sent an U23s to The Vale back in the pre-season of 2019, where the Stones ran out 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Danny Green, Dejon Noel-Williams, Jacob Mendy and Dennon Lewis.
