THE CONTEXT

Wealdstone welcome the first team of local EFL Championship side QPR to Grosvenor Vale on Wednesday evening for a sell-out pre-season fixture. The R's side may already be accustomed to The Vale after their 'B' team used our home as their home for the 2021/22 season. It will be the first time Wealdstone have met a QPR first team since the famous cup run of the 1977/78 season, where the Stones went on our best ever FA Cup run, reaching the Third Round, before visiting a QPR side, who were one of the powerhouses in English football at the time, at Loftus Road losing 4-0.
