MAYNARD | "We go into every game trying to win it"
Stuart Maynard wants his side to go toe-to-toe with Stockport County when two of the league's in-form sides clash in a tasty fixture at The Vale.
The Stones are unbeaten in five matches, winning three of their last four while the visitors are unbeaten in four league games and also knocked Bolton Wanderers out of the FA Cup.
"They have got that new manager lift with Dave Challinor who is a top manager after he got Hartlepool promoted," said Maynard. "They've had a massive improvement in results already and put five past King's Lynn in the week. They have got an array of talent in the squad, and even outside the squad, and it will be a tough test, but we will look forward to the challenge."
The Stones have already knocked over one big team at home this season, beating Grimsby Town when they were riding high at the top of the league. Maynard and his assistant Matt Saunders will send their side out on Saturday afternoon at 3pm looking to pull off a repeat of that win.
"We go into every game trying to win it," said the manager. "We never go into a game looking to get a point. We always want to win a game of football and we never look at the league position of the opposition. We look at how we can set the team up to win the game. They are clearly a good side. They beat Bolton and didn't just beat them – they were the better team. They like to play a possession-based game like us so it should be an attractive game to watch."
It promises to be another big crowd and boisterous atmosphere at The Vale for this one, don't miss out.. advance tickets are on sale, CLICK HERE to buy!
