A prominent organisation in the fight against racism and discrimination in sport will make their first ever visit to The Vale this evening to join the club in raising awareness.
Key officials from Love Football Hate Racism will be meeting and greeting fans before and after the game with league leaders Grimsby Town and share in the club's progressive approach on and off the field.
"We are very much looking forward to coming down," said Malcolm Hirst, founder of Love Football Hate Racism. "The club is steeped in history and is improving all the time, moving through the leagues and this is a big game for them. It's an exciting place to be right now and a good opportunity to engage with fans and make the club even more welcoming."
The Stones have been doing some fine work in local schools recently and embedding themselves in the fabric of the community.
"It's an area with a diverse population and it's great to see the club reflecting that," said Hirst. "It will be great to come down and chat with people, say what we are about and continue the conversation about racism and discrimination in football. There is a lot of focus in the top flight of the game on these issues and yet the incident with Ryan Gondoh last season showed there is a long way to go outside the top leagues. But what was impressive was the support and awareness the club showed towards the player and other players at that time."
The Love Football Hate Racism team will be outside the clubhouse this evening and will be giving away T-shirts, pens and other giveaways. Pop along and show them some famous Wealdstone hospitality.
