"It's a real six pointer"

Jack Young, the livewire Geordie playing on loan from Wycombe Wanderers, will be a key component as Stones take on Kidderminster Harriers in a hugely important National League clash on Saturday.

The midfielder, 23, rolled his ankle in the defeat at Rochdale three weeks ago but returned with his usual high energy performance in the unfortunate Bromley defeat on Thursday night.

“I thought I’d scored in that game - I was onside, following up Mason Barrett‘s shot, but Munds (Jaydn Mundle-Smith) had strayed offside, and that must’ve been why the decision was made.

“The boys know the importance of this game, it’s a real six pointer. I’m fit and ready to go, even 48 hours after the last game – that’s what I’m here for.

“We had a Zoom recovery session on Friday and we’ll be assessing how Kidderminster play, and how we’ll play, before the game.”

Before signing for League One Wanderers the midfielder played over 70 games for Newcastle in Premier League 2 but never quite made the breakthrough into the first team after spending 14 years, from the age of seven, in the Toon’s youth system.

Now he’s committed the rest of the season to helping Stones up the National League table – starting with Kidderminster on Saturday, where we'll be celebrating Non-League Day at The Vale.
