News From The Vale

It has been a fairly quiet week at the Vale following a solid one-all draw against Solihull Moors last time out.

The men’s first team have been fully focused on preparing for Saturday’s game, and Enzio Boldewijn and Anthony Georgiou sat down with club media to reflect on last season’s cup run.

The Stones’ vice-captain said: "I don't think we're going into this weekend with any kind of inferior mindset. Yes, there's a big difference in league placings, but we're entitled to believe in ourselves because we're in good form and we can cause danger.” You can find the full interview here.

After Saturday’s game, Sam Cox and Co. will turn their attention to the FA Trophy Third Round, where we face Cheshunt at the Vale. Tickets are available at a reduced price, so be sure to buy yours now!

It is not just the Wealdstone men’s team who are in red-hot form, but also the Wealdstone women’s side! A three-nil victory in their most recent game, against Tower Hamlets, means they have won six of their last seven matches in all competitions!

Finally, please note that the kick-off time for our National League fixture away at Eastleigh on Saturday, 7th February 2026, has been moved to 5:30pm, owing to DAZN TV coverage.

Our man in form - Terrell Agyemang: The contributions of loanee midfielder Terrell Agyemang have been majorly overlooked by many in recent weeks.

The former Manchester City youngster has been key to knitting the Stones’ play together, showing great tenacity and energy to win second balls in the middle of the park and also exhibiting excellent composure when in possession.

He has become one of the first names on the teamsheet in recent weeks, missing just 16 minutes over the course of the last six games, excluding the National League Cup.

The 23-year-old is yet to taste defeat for the Stones when starting in the league or FA Cup.

Keep it up, Terrell!

The Opposition

Recent form: WDLDL

League Position: 12th (League Two)

Many Wealdstone fans will be familiar with Grimsby Town following their encounter last season. However, just three of the players who started for the Mariners against the Stones last year also started their last league game.

David Artell’s side have already created history in one cup competition this year by knocking Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup Second Round.

But they have struggled for form recently, winning just three of their last 11 games in all competitions.

The manager - David Artell: Gibraltarian David Artell is one of the most tactically astute managers in League Two.

He started his managerial career with Crewe Alexandra, helping to save the Railwaymen from relegation in the 2017/18 season.

The Covid-affected 2019/20 campaign saw him lead Crewe to promotion as he won the LMA League Two Manager of the Year award.

Artell has spent the last couple of years building a project at Blundell Park, first steering them away from relegation, before securing the Mariners a ninth-placed finish last season. Although they currently sit 12th in the fourth tier, they are just three points off the playoff positions.

The danger man - Danny Rose: Although winger Charles Vernam is having an excellent season, Grimsby’s danger man on current form has to be the experienced Danny Rose.

The frontman is somewhat of a League Two veteran, having scored a very solid 87 goals in 354 games in the fourth tier.

Following two good seasons leading the line for Grimsby, Rose lost his place in the starting XI to Jaze Kabia at the start of this campaign.

But he has worked his way back into the fold following a brace against Ebbsfleet United in the last round of the cup.

Rose has used his instinctive, and sometimes unorthodox, finishing ability to net four times in his last five starts.
