Wealdstone Football Club are thrilled by the signing of 25-year-old midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner on a short-term loan deal from Queens Park Rangers.
Eagle-eyed Stones fans may recognise Dixon-Bonner, as he has already faced Sam Cox’s side twice this season, when playing for QPR under-21s in a preseason friendly and for Morecambe in the National League.
The Englishman spent a considerable period of time in the youth ranks at Liverpool. He was part of the Reds’ side that won the 2018/19 FA Youth Cup, scoring the winning penalty in the final in front of almost 4,000 fans.
The midfielder's good form for the Liverpool youth teams saw Jürgen Klopp reward him with his first-team debut for the Reds in early 2020, as he played the final minute of their FA Cup clash against Shrewsbury Town. He made two further appearances for the Merseyside giants before leaving the club in 2022.
Following his departure from Anfield, Dixon-Bonner was picked up by his current club, Queens Park Rangers. After taking a year to settle in, he burst into life in West London following the appointment of Marti Cifuentes.
During the 2023/24 season, Dixon-Bonner made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Rs as they successfully avoided relegation from the Championship. The former England under-16 captain completed more dribbles than 78% of midfielders in the second tier during his breakout season.
Last campaign, the midfielder made six appearances for the R’s before moving to Swedish side Västerås SK on loan. He played five games in the Superettan, helping his team to the title, before returning to England.
Dixon-Bonner has spent much of this season on loan at fellow National League side, Morecambe. The 25-year-old made 14 appearances and provided one assist for the Shrimps before returning to Loftus Road.
After being cup tied for last weekend's win over Dagenham & Redbridge, Elijah will be able to make his debut for the Stones on Saturday when we host Woking in the Enterprise National League. Buy tickets HERE
