Stones sign exciting winger Sam Matthews
The Stones are pleased to confirm the permanent signing of winger Sam Matthews.
The 25-year-old has been training with the cub for several weeks and joins the Stones on a deal until January.
His career began at Bournemouth, where he won a pro contract, with spells that followed at Poole Town, Braintree, Eastleigh, Bristol Rovers, Crawley and Aldershot. He goes straight into the squad for our National League fixture at Dorking Wanderers tomorrow .
"Sam’s a player with really good league experience for someone that’s only 25 year old," said manager Stuart Maynard. "He’s played in League 1 and League 2, and if it wasn’t for some bad luck, he’d probably still be in the EFL.
"He’s a technical right winger who can dribble at you and open the pitch up when he comes inside. He’s got great football intelligence and on top of that, he works incredibly hard. He will fit in well as a human being as he has good morals and has the desire to get back into the league. It’s a pleasure to have him on board."
