Sam Cox expects a ‘tough challenge’ from a Gateshead side that are looking to ‘bounce-back’ from a tricky start to the season.
The visitors come into the game looking for points of their own in an attempt to bounce back from last week’s humbling 5-0 defeat away at Woking.
“We’re excited for the game at the weekend,” said Cox.
“Gateshead, although they’ve had a tough couple of weeks, will be looking to get back to winning ways with a reaction from their players so we know we’re in for a tough challenge.”
“We’ve done our homework and prepared accordingly. We’ve had a tough run of games as of late so we’ve managed the loads accordingly this week and done some preparation.”
The Stones have a solid record at the Vale so far this season, winning 3 of their first five games, scoring eight goals.
“Once again we’re going to try to use the Vale to our advantage as it has proven on so many occasions this season already as we look to get back to winning ways.”
“We’re looking to build some real momentum and get some points on the board so that’s the aim and that’s the target.”
After his serious injury away at Scunthorpe last week, we can confirm that Daniel Nkrumah is beginning his recovery process with the club.
“Dan (Nkrumah) is out of hospital and begins his rehab process so he will be out for the foreseeable couple of months. We wish him a speedy recovery on his way back because he’s going to be important for us on his return.”
In recent weeks the Stones have been without reliable forward Max Kretzschmar and summer signing Nathan Young-Coombes, due to injury. A return from the pair would add attacking prowess to Cox’s side.
“We welcome Nathan Young-Coombes and Max Kretzschmar back to the squad, they are going to be massive players for us with their energy and enthusiasm, adding some firepower to the frontline.”
