REPORT | Solihull Moors 1-0 Wealdstone

Wealdstone suffered a narrowly disappointing 1-0 defeat to Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon at the ARMCO Arena.

Josh Kelly scored the only goal of the game early into the second half, which then saw the Stones reduced to ten men when Sam Bowen was given a second yellow card.

Stones boss Stuart Maynard named an unchanged side to the one that beat Oxford City on Tuesday evening, with Mason Barrett returning from suspension to be named on the bench.

In a tactical half of few chances, Wealdstone's best effort fell to Max Kretzschmar on ten minutes, with his powerful shot stinging the palms of Tommy Simkin.

Kelly had the best chance of the first half when he broke through the Stones defence to have a run on goal, but Jed Ward did well to thwart the ball at his feet.

The Moors striker made no mistake early into the second half when presented with a similar chance, learning his lessons from previous and delicately dinking the ball over the onrushing Ward.

Wealdstone's afternoon was made more difficult just past the hour mark when Bowen was given a second yellow card.

Joe Newton almost doubled the Moors tally on 84 minutes, heading just wide from a Callum Maycock corner.

The Stones are next in action on Saturday 11th November when we welcome Rochdale to their first ever visit to Grosvenor Vale.

WEALDSTONE: Ward, Cook (c), Barker (Adarkwa 86), Mundle-Smith, Smith, Charles, Ferguson (Obiero 61), Bowen, Allarakhia, Kretzschmar (Mason 61), Campbell.

Subs not used: Barrett, Abdulmalik.

Attendance: 1,281 (including 108 Wealdstone fans)
