Wealdstone look to make it nine wins in-a-row on Saturday when the league leaders visit Welling United in the National League South.
Dean Brennan’s Stones have won nine of their first 10 games and have a healthy seven-point lead at the top of England’s sixth tier.
The in-form Wealdstone travel to Park View Road to face a Welling side that are winless in their last three games and sit a disappointing 15th in the division.
Wings striker Adam Coombes has rushed to five goals already this season but the south-east London side have not scored since Bank Holiday Monday.
The Stones have scored the most goals in all the English divisions so far with 25 goals in the first 10 games, netting 21 goals in the previous eight fixtures.
Wealdstone Manager Dean Brennan on returning to one game a week: “We are playing well and controlling games well at the moment, sometimes you want the games to keep on coming because we’ll gain more points.”
Momentum is going to be key for the Stones to continue as the amount of games decrease, the squad will need to adjust to the schedule and keep performances at a high level.
“In this business, if you drop your guard and don’t keep that intensity then you’ll be picking your teeth up off the floor”, said Brennan.
The Stones have played every game so far this season with high intensity and it looks like Brennan will continue to play with a similar tempo in this fixture.
Brennan will plenty of quality at his disposal this weekend with the returns of midfielder Connor Smith and a hungry Phil Roberts, bolstering Wealdstone’s attacking arsenal.
The only injury in the squad is full-back Ryan Sellers who still awaits a scan, while Reece Beckles-Richards has agreed a short-term loan to National League South rivals Oxford City.
Can Wealdstone win their ninth consecutive game or will the Wings fly away with points on Saturday?
