The Opposition

Recent form: LDLDW

League Position: 14th

The 2025/26 season has been a momentous one for Boston, as they became a full-time side following their great escape from relegation last campaign.

Graham Coughlan, who masterminded that escape, left the club in January and was replaced by Paul Hurst, perhaps best known for his two stints at Grimsby Town.

The Pilgrims have been very solid since Hurst’s arrival, and they currently sit in 14th place in the league, just two points behind the Stones. They are one of a small number of teams that have picked up more points on their travels than at home this campaign.

The reverse fixture: In fact, Boston secured one of their six home league wins against the Stones in August, when they consigned Wealdstone to their second defeat of the season.

The Stones had the better of general play in what was admittedly a chance-laden first half, Nathan Tshikuna coming close to breaking the deadlock on two occasions.

Boston’s only shot of the first half came from a free-kick, which was relatively comfortably dealt with by Baptiste.

Unfortunately, the Pilgrims started the second half in a much more lively fashion, Lenell John-Lewis tapping in a cross from the right-hand side.

The Stones regained the ascendancy and created a couple of half-chances before Micah Obiero produced a well-guided header to level the scoring in the 69th minute.

But Boston retook the lead just 10 minutes later. A set-piece caused chaos in the Stones’ box, and a bouncing ball eventually fell to Gregory Sloggett, who bundled the ball into the net.

The danger man - Level John-Lewis: The Pilgrims have one of the most experienced players in the fifth tier leading their line in Level John-Lewis, who has once again found his shooting boots after a slightly more difficult 2024/25 season.

John-Lewis had played a number of games in the EFL and National League for the likes of Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town and York City before joining Boston in the summer.

The frontman is the Pilgrims’ top scorer in the National League, having netted 11 times in 34 games. John-Lewis missed the entirety of February due to injury, but has found his way back to fitness and form in recent weeks, netting a crucial equaliser from the penalty spot against Brackley Town.
