News from The Vale
Wealdstone will look to use Friday night’s commendable draw with Carlisle United as a source of momentum going into the game.
The Cumbrians had led through David Ajiboye’s first-half goal, but the Stones deserved to take something from the match and were eventually rewarded thanks to Aaron Henry’s spectacular free-kick in the last minute of normal time.
Reflecting on the draw, Gary Waddock said: “We went toe-to-toe with a very good side who are looking to go for promotion this year. We played really well.
“I thought Dante made two unbelievable saves to keep us in the game. It needed something special and Aaron’s free-kick was a different class.”
The Stones will be boosted by the return of Dylan Kadji to the squad after serving his one-match suspension. Club captain Jack Cook and summer signing Admiral Muskwe remain unavailable due to injuries.
The Opposition
Sutton United have enjoyed an impressive start to their Enterprise National League campaign, currently sitting top of the table with four wins in as many games.
They come into the match off the back of a 1-0 win over Gateshead, but will be without Noah Nzuzi after the midfielder was sent off after an off-the-ball clash.
The sides have gone toe-to-toe on 82 previous occasions, with The Stones winning 18, The U’s winning 44, and the remaining 20 ending in draws.
The last meeting between the sides was in February this year, with Sutton United securing a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Hayden Muller, Lewis Simper, and Kai Jennings. The match marked the end of Sam Cox’s reign as Wealdstone manager.
Wealdstone’s last win over The U’s came in the fixture before that in October 2025, with Micah Obiero, Sak Hassan, Connor McAvoy and Anthony Georgiou all getting on the scoresheet to give The Stones a 4-2 victory.
