PREVIEW | Hungerford Town (H)

Wealdstone wrap up pre-season on Saturday when National League South side Hungerford Town visit Grosvenor Vale in a 3pm kick off.

With 21 sides in the National League South this season the Crusaders are the only team missing the league's opener on Saturday, and are treated with a pre-season trip to the capital instead.

The Berkshire side were a surprise package in the National League South last season, spending more or less the whole season in the promotion and play-off spots after being tipped for relegation by many. They will once again be a strong force as they visit The Vale.

There will be a link with Stones new striker Craig Fasanmade having joined from the visitors toward the end of last season, plus the many players and staff that made the switch over the years when former Stones boss Bobby Wilkinson moved from Hungerford to Wealdstone in 2017.

Saturday will be Hungerford's tenth pre-season friendly of the summer and they have a decent record having won six, drawn once and lost twice, their most recent outing was at home to Gosport Borough, who they played for a second time this summer, and they drew 1-1 at Bulpit Lane.

Wealdstone continued their unbeaten pre-season in midweek with a 3-0 win over Premier League side Watford's U23 squad and Stones boss Stuart Maynard will want a repeat of when the sides last met back in August 2019, where Wealdstone won 3-1 at The Vale thanks to goals from Jacob Mendy, Dennon Lewis and Ross Lafayette.

Tickets are £8 Adults, £4 Concessions and £2 U18s on the day and you can buy them online HERE to avoid the queues.

Depending on the weather, season tickets will also be ready to collect from a stall outside the ground, if the weather takes a turn they will be ready to collect from inside The Vale Social Club.
