THE CONTEXT

The Stones drew Daggers at The Vale as both sides take a respite from National League action this weekend and begin their 2021/22 FA Cup journeys in the 4th Qualifying Round of the competition. The two sides have already met this season, playing out a 2-2 draw at the visitors' Chigwell Construction Stadium last month. This will be the fifth time the Stones have met Dagenham in the FA Cup, with a 2-0 win in 1975 setting up the an FA Cup 1st Round classic away to Aldershot in the next round and a 3-0 win in 1986 setting up a 1st Round tie at Lower Mead against Swansea which went to a replay.

TEAM NEWS

Ira Jackson returns from his three-match suspension and could bolster the Stones attacking line. Jerome Okimo, Rhys Browne and Danny Parish were also nearing a return and could all be included in Saturday's matchday squad. Ashley Charles did come off late on Saturday with a knock against Eastleigh but should continue in the middle of the park. Charlie Barker missed Saturday's defeat with injury, forcing the Stones to sign Jaydn Mundle-Smith who came on to make his debut in the game.

WHAT WAS SAID?

Stuart Maynard: "You need a little luck in the cup. It's something we look forward to every year. I believe in a cup run; it helps the club financially which the club need more than ever, it's great for the fans, we all want to get to the first round and draw a big team like Sunderland, we all want that. So it's something we will all be working very hard on this week to try and get a result on Saturday."
