News From The Vale
Speaking following the Stones’ utterly dominant win against Hartlepool United on Tuesday night, Gary Waddock was pleased with the mentality of his team after an emotionally draining day on Saturday. You can watch his full post-match reaction here.
Anthony Georgiou and Enzio Boldewijn also spoke to Stones TV after the game. Georgiou emphasised the “quality” that the team showed in the final third, whilst Boldewijn described the performance as one of the most “dominant” of his career. You can find the rest of Anthony and Enzio’s interview here.
It had been a goal-laden few days for the Stones, as the Wealdstone Women’s side bounced back from a defeat against Luton Town with a 6-1 victory over Clapham United! A special well done to Gabi Racut, who scored a hat trick in the game!
If you want to continue to revel in the glory of the Stones’ FA Trophy victory against Marine AFC, Michael Adu-Poku reflected on the game when speaking to club media.
He described the game as “a great occasion to be a part of” and said it feels “amazing” to be going to Wembley. You can find the full interview here.
Our man in form - Micah Obiero: Wealdstone’s number 14 has enjoyed a terrific spell of form in front of goal recently, and rightly deserved the heaps of praise piled upon him by his teammates on Tuesday night.
Obiero’s 25-minute hat trick against the Monkey Hangers showcased his all-round abilities as a striker. His first goal saw him use his trickery and agility to bamboozle the opposition defender, his second showed his first-class strikers’ instincts as he reacted to a loose ball in the box, and his third strike epitomised his running power and tenacity.
Obiero has now scored a whopping nine goals in his last nine games, taking his total goal tally to 18 in all competitions.
Speaking to Stones TV on Tuesday night, Obiero said he was just “happy to be making memories” for the fans.
Great work, Micah, keep it up!

Although they have dropped away from the title race during 2026, Boreham Wood are still enjoying an excellent campaign following their promotion from the National League South last season.
Luke Garrard has reinvented his style of football and made the Wood one of the great entertainers of the fifth tier.
Like the Stones, Boreham Wood are riding somewhat of an emotional high at the moment as they beat West Ham United Under-21s to win the National League Cup just a couple of weeks ago.
The reverse fixture: The reverse fixture between the two teams saw the Stones have one of the toughest days they have endured at the Vale this season.
A mistake early on allowed Abdul Abdulmalik to run through on goal and fire the visitors into the lead inside two minutes.
The Stones’ best chance of the game fell to Nathan Tshikuna when a bouncing ball fell to him on the edge of the box. His strike on the half volley forced Ted Curd into a solid save.
Boreham Wood doubled their lead inside half an hour after Matt Rush pounced on the ball after a scramble in the box and fired past Dante Baptiste from close range.
After a bright start to the second half, the Stones were caught on the break in the 52nd minute. Lewis Richardson finished the swift counterattack and effectively ended the Stones’ hopes of a comeback victory.
The Wood scored their final goal of the game eight minutes from the end of normal time as Richardson produced a powerful effort to double his tally on the day.
The danger man - Matt Rush: With the Wood being one of the highest scoring teams in the National League, they have a number of goal threats in their side, but Matt Rush stands out above the rest.
Rush has been a revelation since arriving in Hertfordshire midway through last season, and he has scored an extremely impressive 46 goals in 81 games for the Wood.
In his first full season in the National League, the frontman has found the back of the net a whopping 23 times, and he has played in all 41 of the Wood’s league fixtures.
Rush is not the most physically imposing striker, but he has excellent movement and possesses great instincts.
