MATT TAYLOR VOICES HIS FRUSTRATIONS AFTER THE DRAMATIC 2-2 DRAW AWAY AT HALIFAX TOWN
The Stones came away with a point after a 2-2 draw away at Halifax Town, in a game that saw two red cards given and two penalties awarded.
"It should've been three points, that's what is so frustrating." Said Matt Taylor. "The players have given everything today and not got what they deserved. The decisions are what has cost us today, not anything my players have done on the ball."
"Off the ball, we didn't get decisions that we thought we would do and we'll review that. The players have spoken after the game at how harsh they thought the decisions were."
The Stones were given their first red card of the game, in the 72nd minute, when Adrian Mariappa was given his second yellow of the game, after a firm challenge gave the referee a decision to make.
Jaydn Mundle-Smith was the second man to see red, after the full-time whistle, having voiced his frustrations at the referee when the whistle had been blown.
"Adrian (Mariappa) looks as though he's going to be suspended. Jaydn (Mundle-Smith) has also been sent off for something he said to the referee after the game, which tells you how passionate they are.
"Jaydn has just got back to fitness and put in a monster performance today, his effort was outstanding today and it shows his frustrations at the end. I don't know what Adrian is supposed to do other than stand still and put his arms by his side."
Taylor's side took the lead in the 34th minute when Sam Ashford converted from the spot, after Micah Obiero was scythed down in the area.
The hosts pulled one back just after the break with a penalty of their own, converted by Florent Hoti, before Obiero put the Stones back in the lead, just ten minutes later.
"The performance today was very good, especially in the first half where we dominated. The players have put in an extreme amount of effort. I don't know what more we can do to win a game of football.
"The quality was there, we scored two really good goals. I though Elliot Thorpe's delivery was excellent. Micah (Obiero) goes and finishes and I thought we were comfortable."
It's a busy week for the Stones once again, they face Southampton U21s on Tuesday at 19:00pm in the National League Cup, tickets available here, before travelling to Gateshead on Saturday at 15:00pm.
"We're going to have to rotate (on Tuesday against Southampton U21s). We've got two players suspended and I'm not sure if we picked up any injuries. We're going to have to look at that fixture in a different light because the most important thing for us is the League."
