MATCH REPORT | Wealdstone 3-4 Aldershot Town

Wealdstone fell to a narrow defeat in thrilling seven-goal encounter with Aldershot Town at Grosvenor Vale.

Goals from Joel Nouble, Jermaine Anderson, Chike Kandi and Josh Rees secured victory for the Shots, while strikes from Dennon Lewis, Alex Dyer and Moses Emmanuel proved only conciliatory for the home side.

Stones' Manager Dean Brennan opted to name an unchanged line-up from the side that defeated Gloucester City in the FA Trophy on Monday evening.

The Shots took an early lead in the contest through Nouble, who converted George Fowler's cross at the back post past Wealdstone's number one Stuart Moore, in the sixth minute.

However, the Stones responded in a positive fashion, drawing level within 12 minutes after a swift counter attack saw Michael Phillips find Lewis who finished the move in clinical style; cutting inside and firing into the top corner over Mitch Walker.

Galvanised by the goal, the Stones seized the initiative in the 27th minute as Phillips turned provider again, finding Dyer free in the box, for the midfielder to calmly slot home into the bottom right corner past Walker.

Aldershot Town levelled the match again 11 minutes later as Toby Edser's corner was fired home under Moore by Anderson at his second attempt.

Another goal followed before halftime for the Shots as Nouble cut back to Kandi who duly blazed past Moore to regain the lead for the visitors.

The second half saw the away side push for a fourth goal, and they were nearly rewarded in the 55th minute, but Moore produced a fantastic triple save to prevent the Aldershot Town from edging further ahead.

The Shots finally secured a two-goal cushion in the 75th minute as Mo Bettamer fed an unmarked Rees in the box, and the captain struck the ball into the bottom left-hand corner to extend the visitor's lead.

Late drama ensued as Michee Efete surged forward and beat two defenders, but he was brought down in the process, winning a penalty for the Stones. Emmanuel stepped up and confidently smashed his spot-kick past Walker into the top corner to set up a gripping climax.

The home side pressed for an equaliser it the remaining ten minutes, but Aldershot Town stood firm to thwart their efforts and close out the match.

Wealdstone return to action on Tuesday evening, as they travel to Moss Lane to face Altrincham in a 7.45pm kick off. WEALDSTONE: Moore, Efete, Meekings (Cawley 46), Okimo (c), Mendy, Smith, Phillips, Dyer, Green (Lench 77), Emmanuel, Lewis.
