MATCH REPORT | Billericay Town 1-5 Wealdstone

Wealdstone recorded a convincing 5-1 win with a fluent performance at New Lodge. The Stones got off to a lightning quick start, when Dom Hutchinson broke down the right. His low cross found Fela Olomola, who calmly squared the ball to Malachi Napa for him to slot into an empty net.

The Stones continued to drive forward, and excellent link-up play from Olomola set up Max Kretzschmar, but he fired just wide. Stuart Maynard’s side were stunned minutes later, as Alfie Cerulli fired a shot towards goal, and a slight deflection gave the Trialist keeper no chance, as the ball nestled in the top corner.

But on the half hour mark, Hutchinson drove down the right hand side again, and his pin point cross was met by an unmarked Olomola inside the six yard box for a tap in. The striker came very close to doubling his tally soon after, when his low driven shot from outside the box was brilliantly tipped around the post by Harry Seaden.

But Seaden was helpless minutes later, when a beautiful lofted pass from Olomola split the Ricay defence and allowed Allarakhia the time and space to pick his spot in the bottom corner.

The Stones continued to push forward after half time, and Nathan Ferguson got his name on the score sheet ten minutes after the restart. The midfielder fired a fierce strike into the bottom corner from about 25 yards out.

But Billericay came very close to pulling another goal back just past the hour mark. A superb strike from Bradley Stevenson came back off the underside of the bar.

A bizarre moment occurred after 70 minutes, when Ashley Charles was sent off for foul and abusive language, much to the dismay of the Stones bench.

Max Kretzschmar put the icing on the cake when substitute Tecane Shrowder’s ball was volleyed home by the attacking midfielder five minutes from time.

Stuart Maynard will no doubt be delighted by the attacking performance from his side, who were ruthless from start to finish against a side who will look to push for promotion from the Isthmian League this season.
