News From The Vale

There was another piece of movement in the Stones’ first-team squad ahead of the game against Woking, as Mason Barrett has joined Farnborough on a 28-day loan following his recovery from a long-term injury. Good luck, Mason!

The Wealdstone Women’s side completed a very successful weekend by beating Goldsworth Park Rangers in the Capital Women’s Cup on Sunday, with Gabi Racut’s strike proving to be the difference between the two sides!

Following Wednesday night’s contest, the Stones are set for another lengthy run of away games, with their next game at the Vale not being until mid-February.

This is partly due to the draw for the last 16 of the FA Trophy, which has pitted Sam Cox’s side against Forest Green Rovers. Our fixture at home against Morecambe, which was due to be played on the same day as the FA Trophy tie, has consequently been rearranged to Tuesday, 3rd March, with the game kicking off at 7:45pm.

Our man in form - Deon Woodman: Following an excellent couple of games, the Stones’ central defensive rock, Deon Woodman, is the man in form heading into Wednesday night’s clash.

The 23-year-old put in a dominant performance at the back against Dagenham and Redbridge and backed it up by looking similarly imperious against Woking. Woodman also popped up with the crucial goal against the Cards, a wonderful header from a set piece.

He was named Player of the Match by sponsors, Osmo UK, and was also named in the Enterprise National League Team of the Week.

Well done, Deon, keep it up!

The Opposition

Recent form: LLWDD

League Position: 13th

After gaining two quick-fire promotions to land in the National League last season, Andy Peaks’ side are very much consolidating themselves in the fifth tier.

They had an excellent 2024/25 season, going on a tremendous FA Cup run, which saw them push Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur to extra time, and finishing in 10th place in the league, just four points off the playoff positions.

The Lambs have been solid this campaign, and currently find themselves in 13th place, behind the Stones only on goal difference after they failed to win their last game.

The reverse fixture: Sam Cox’s men secured a solid point when they travelled to the Lamb Ground earlier in the campaign.

The opening phases of the game were marred by an injury to Alfie Massey, which saw the young midfielder withdrawn after 23 minutes and sent back to his parent club, Millwall, to focus on his recovery.

10 minutes after half time, the curse of the ex struck as Nathan Tshikuna fired in a powerful strike from outside of the box to give the Stones the lead.

Unfortunately, Wealdstone were not in the ascendancy for long as Kennedy Digie equalised for Andy Peaks’ side in the 62nd minute.

The final half an hour saw both sides have half-chances to win the game, but the contest ultimately ended level, the first time the Stones have picked up a point against Tamworth.

The danger man - Stefan Mols: The Lambs have lost a considerable amount of attacking talent in recent weeks as both Manny Duku and Beck-Ray Enoru have left the club, but they still have the dangerous Stefan Mols in their squad.

The Spanish-born midfielder made one appearance for Blackburn Rovers and featured heavily in their youth teams as a youngster.

He has spent the last two seasons in the National League North with Curzon Ashton, demonstrating his availability and quality as he played a whopping 98 games and scored 24 goals during his time with the Nash.

Mols has begun to cement himself as a regular starter for Tamworth in recent games, and he scored a crucial brace in a three-one victory against Gateshead to take his total goal tally for the season to five.
