John Ashworth

Wealdstone Football Club are saddened to hear the news that our 1966 FA Amateur Cup winning captain John Ashworth has passed away.

John spent four years at the Stones in the 60s, where the popular defender made 171 appearances scoring eight times.

His finest moment for the Stones was when he lead us out to a 3-1 victory against Hendon in 1966 FA Amateur Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in front of 45,000 people.

He also featured regularly for the England Amateur squad and Great Britain Men's Olympic football team.
