Howes called up to England ‘C’ squad

Huge congratulations to Wealdstone goalkeeper Sam Howes who has been called up to Paul Fairclough's provisional England 'C' squad to face Wales 'C' on Tuesday 21st March at Altrincham's Moss Rose stadium.

Whilst this is Howes' first call up to the England 'C' squad, he has also represented the Three Lions from U16 through to U20 level. The keeper had this to say: "I’m delighted to have been called up to the England C Squad.

"It’s always an honour to be able to represent your country at any level and I’m honoured to be able to get the chance. I want to thank everyone at the club, especially my teammates and the management team, without them getting this opportunity wouldn’t of been possible as it’s been a complete squad and club effort this year."

And Stones boss Stuart Maynard was equally delighted as his number one stopper, "We’re immensely proud Sam has been called up. It’s really rewarding to see his performances given their just rewards.

"He has performed outstanding this season and a huge credit to himself for that, he’s won us games single handedly this year and we wish him well when he faces Wales.”

Sam will face Wales 'C' on 21st March at Altrincham's Moss Rose Stadium and he leaves that week with all at the club's best wishes.
