Dear Wealdstone fans,
It is with a heavy heart that I announce I will be leaving the football club. This decision has
not been an easy one — it has taken many days and more than a few sleepless nights to
reach, which reflects just how difficult it has been for me.
The opportunity to rejoin a manager in Alan Dowson whom I trust and respect immensely —
not only in a playing capacity, but in a coaching one too — was something I simply couldn’t
turn down at this stage of my life and career. I’m incredibly excited to take my first steps into coaching at National League South level, at a club that is very close to my heart.
That said, it feels bittersweet. When I arrived at Wealdstone in 2022, I could never have
imagined how much I would come to enjoy my football, playing the incredible style we did
under Stuart Maynard, Matt and Craig Saunders. Harder times followed, but even then we
managed to achieve our goals under the most pressurised of circumstances.
Two away games at Oldham will live long in the memory, as will the matches against Dorking Wanderers and Halifax at home on the final day of last season.
However, what I’ve enjoyed most during my time here is the dressing room — the players
and characters we’ve always had at the club. Great players, but even better people. And that
extends right throughout the club. Brett, Adam, Sarah, and all the staff behind the scenes —
you are incredible, and you’re what truly makes Wealdstone such a special place.
Thank you to all the managers I’ve worked under during my time here, and a special thank
you to Sam Cox, his coaching staff and Rory Fitzgerald, who have supported and looked
after me this season when I really needed it the most.
Finally, I want to say a huge thank you to you, the supporters. My family have grown a real
attachment to the club over these years— they’ve been down at The Vale most weeks supporting the team and I, and I know they’ll miss being here every other week.
You are what makes this club so special: fiercely loyal and proud of your club. I’ll miss the connection we shared, and I hope my efforts on and off the pitch always did the shirt justice.
Take care, and as always Up The Stones.
