Chesterfield v Wealdstone - Match Preview

THE DETAILS Chesterfield v Wealdstone National League Technique Stadium Saturday 15th May, 3:00pm kick-off

This fixture will be hosted behind closed doors.

HOW TO WATCH Due to current COVID-19 restrictions in place across the country, this fixture will be held behind closed doors. Our hosts are live streaming the event and you can purchase your streaming passes HERE.

THE CONTEXT

Stones travel to Chesterfield with the hosts sitting in the play-off positions with just three games to go and pressure from Wrexham, Bromley and Eastleigh sitting just outside the positions ready to capitalise on any slip-up. Despite a rocky start to the season the Spireites have strengthened under new manager James Rowe who came in for John Pemberton in November and have rocketed up the table, boosted by the addition a small group of former EFL players to their squad and some key players from Rowe's former side Gloucester City.

WHAT WAS SAID?:

Stones boss Stuart Maynard: "Myself and Matt are taking it one game at a time but behind the scenes we do have one eye on next season in what we need, where we need to go and what direction to go in, so yeah we are definitely planning for it but our main focus now is Chesterfield away. We've got to be on it, we've got to be focused and be prepared to give everything and if we do we will go there and be competitive."

TEAM NEWS

Dennon Lewis recovered from a knock picked up in last week's defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge to feature from the bench against Bromley in midweek, Jack Cawley has also been training with the side again after his loan deal at Concord Rangers and could be back in the squad on Saturday. George Shelvey, Nikola Tavares, George Langston and Josh Meekings are all out and one eye will be on Dan Wishart too, who tweaked his hamstring in the midweek defeat to Bromley.

FORM GUIDE Stones: Bromley (H) 0-1 L Dagenham & Redbridge (H) 0-5 L Stockport County (A) 4-0 L

Yeovil Town (H) 0-2 L

Aldershot Town (A) 2-0 L

Chesterfield:

King's Lynn Town (H) 4-1 W (Yussuf, Carline, Yarney, Rowe) Woking (A) 1-4 W (Gunning, Dinanga, Carline, Clarke) Torquay United (H) 0-2 L Hartlepool United (A) 3-1 L (Kerr) Bromley (A) 1-2 W (Clarke, Carline)

WHO TO WATCH FOR: Danny Rowe: The signing of Rowe last month certainly raised a few eyebrows in non-league football with the experienced striker joining from EFL League Two side Bradford City despite having joined the Bantams on an 18-month deal in January. He is most-known for his spell at AFC Fylde where 189 goals in 290 games helped them gain promotion from the National League North, reach the National League play-offs and also win the FA Trophy. He left the Coasters in 2019 in order to play in the EFL at Oldham Athletic before joining Bradford halfway through this season, in total he scored 16 goals in 50 games at both clubs before dropping back into non-league with Chesterfield at the end of last month, scoring his first Spireites goal in their 4-1 win over King's Lynn Town last time out.
