Wealdstone Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of centre-back Phillip Chinedu, who joins us from Leyton Orient on an initial 28-day loan!

The young defender, who can play both on the left and in the centre of defence, spent time in the Blackburn Rovers youth setup before moving to South London.

He appeared on the bench for the O’s during the 2023/24 league season, before making his first appearances in men’s football whilst out on loan last campaign.

Chinedu joined St. Albans City on loan in August 2024, when he was just 17 years old, for an initial 28-day period, though this was extended by two months due to his impressive performances.

After making 13 appearances for the Saints, the youngster joined Hemel Hempstead. He made six more appearances in the National League South, scoring his first goal in senior football in the process.

Earlier this summer, it was announced that he had signed his first professional contract with Leyton Orient, and he was described by manager Richie Wellens as a “physical defender.”
