News From The Vale

In the build-up to the clash with Hartlepool, Isaac Christie-Davies was announced as Wealdstone’s latest signing. The midfielder has made a first-team appearance for Liverpool and was most recently playing in the Belgian top flight.

Sam Cox also found out who his side would be facing in the Third Round of the FA Trophy, where the Stones have been drawn at home against Cheshunt. The tie will take place on Saturday, December 13th.

A week before hosting Cheshunt, the team are playing in a massive FA Cup game against Grimsby Town. The club can announce that, following a donation to the Wealdstone FC Supporters Club, a third coach to the game will be running! You can book your tickets for what will be a historic day here.

It has been a good week away for the two men’s first-team players on international duty. Omar Mussa scored a brace for Burundi in their game against Zambia, whilst Sak Hassan won Man of the Match for Somalia against Bahrain as they secured their first victory since 2019!

Finally, the club is delighted to announce that football freestyler Jay Rosa will be showing off his skills at the Vale on Saturday! Most importantly, he is using the opportunity to raise awareness about mental health. You can find out more about his project by clicking here.

After successive relegations saw them fall from League One to the National League, Forest Green look to have more than stabilised themselves in the fifth tier.

Last season, they were in the title race for much of the campaign before falling away in the final weeks of the season.

A third-placed finish was not enough to keep the experienced Steve Cotterill in his job, as he was replaced by former Wales international Robbie Savage, who has done well in his first months.

The manager - Robbie Savage: Savage had a storied playing career, making the best part of 350 appearances in the Premier League, whilst also winning 39 caps for his country.

It looked as if the 51-year-old’s career post-retirement from playing would be in punditry, but this changed once he became involved with Macclesfield FC.

After initially being appointed as a member of the board and then Director of Football, Savage stepped into management for the first time just before his 50th birthday.

His spell in charge of the Silkmen was exceptional as they won the Northern Premier Division and earned promotion to the National League North.

He earned a move to Forest Green in the summer and has continued his momentum with the Gloucestershire-based club.

They have picked up 41 points in their 19 league games, and Savage has lost just eight times in his 77-game managerial career.

The danger man - Kyle McAllister: The Rovers’ main threat will be provided by Kyle McAllister, the ‘Swiss Army Knife’ in the Rovers’ squad.

The Scotsman is in his fourth season at The New Lawn Stadium, and the fact that he featured regularly for the club when they were in the third tier is indicative of his quality.

McAllister registered 20 combined goals and assists in the league last campaign as he was named in the Team of the Season. Rather ominously, he is on course to better that tally this season.

The 26-year-old has come to life over the last three weeks, in which he has scored four times and provided two assists in just four games in all competitions.

The former Scotland under-21 international loves to cut inside from the right flank and use his left foot, which the Stones defenders will have to be wary of.
