Two more years! Maynard & Saunders sign new deals
We are delighted to announce that Stones manager Stuart Maynard and his assistant Matt Saunders have today put pen to paper to sign new 2 year deals, remaining at the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.
The highly rated duo joined the club in May 2019; Maynard as Assistant Manager and Saunders as First Team Coach before taking over in a caretaker capacity in February 2021. They were then appointed First Team Manager and Assistant Manager permanently in March of the same year.
Chairman Rory Fitzgerald said "We are delighted to keep Stuart and Matt here, they both get the club and have a huge part to play in our future. There was strong interest in them both from other clubs after what they have achieved on the pitch this season, but they are committed to what we want to achieve at Wealdstone".
Maynard was equally as effusive; "We're delighted to have signed new deals and to commit our future to the club. After the season we've had together, you could feel the togetherness coming through at the end of season presentation last weekend. We're doing all the right things off the pitch at the club and we're doing well on the pitch, so it's an exciting time and we're looking forward to the future."
The new deals also ensure that the rest of the management team remain at the Stones for the next 2 seasons, providing strong continuity and foundations for growth.
