Report - Wealdstone 6 - 2 Hayes & Yeading United

Wealdstone cruised into the third round of the Middlesex Senior Cup after an entertaining 6-2 victory against Hayes & Yeading United at The Vale.

A brace from Dejon Noel-Williams, accompanied by goals from Danny Green, Fumnaya Shomotun, Billy Clifford and Eric Lopes saw off United's second half efforts from James Clark and Omar Rowe.

The game lacked chances in the opening period and the Stones were clinical when the chances fell to them in the first half.

Green was the first to light the game up, drilling a fantastic left-footed effort straight into the top corner after 25 minutes.

Hayes & Yeading were not threatening in the final third and were punished on the counter attack when Ashley Charles threaded Shomotun through and, after dribbling inside from the right, converted the second.

In quick succession, Green found Clifford in the box to slot in the Stones' third of the evening 10 minutes before the break.

The game was put out of sight of the away side by half-time, Noel-Williams won possession in Hayes' half and struck an effort high into the net on the stroke of the interval.

Paul Hughes' Hayes came out fighting in the second period, getting off the mark in the 52nd minute when ex-Stone Clark slotted past Harry Isted.

Clark's goal could have been cancelled out less than a minute later when Stones substitute Jacob Mendy was through on-goal down the lead; Andrew McCorkell was forced into a save at the near-post.

The Stones almost extended their lead in the final 20 minutes when Green cut inside and curled a dipping effort off the bar.

The crossbar was hit again moments later, this time for the away side, as Hassan Jalloh's fierce strike forced Isted to push the effort onto the woodwork.

Substitute Lopes netted the Stones' fifth of the evening, slotting past McCorkell down the left with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Noel-Williams was able to grab his second of the night three minutes later, latching onto a huge defensive effort and fired into the roof of the net.

Hayes & Yeading found a consolation as Ogo Obi found Rowe who found United's second of the evening, however, the Stones were worthy winners of this cup tie.
