REPORT | FOREST GREEN ROVERS 2-2 WEALDSTONE
A brace from Callum McFarlane secured Wealdstone a point on the road in a 2-2 draw with Forest Green Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts found themselves two goals ahead, just six minutes in, thanks to a well placed header from Christian Doidge and a screamer from Adam May.
Following their frustrating start, the Stones picked themselves up and pulled a goal back, just before the break, when a well worked set piece fell into the path of McFarlane, who finished well.
With just second remaining in normal time, chaos in the box ended with the ball once again falling to McFarlane, who hit a first time volley powerfully into the back of the net to send the travelling Stones faithful into raptures.
Matt Taylor made three changes to the starting lineup from Tuesday's game against Woking, with Kallum Cesay, Alex Dyer and Brandon Mason making their way back into the XI.
It wasn't the start to the afternoon that the Stones were looking for, going 2-0 down within the first six minutes.
The first goal after 90 seconds saw Doidge's header buried into the bottom corner, before May doubled their lead with a shot from distance into the top corner.
To make matters worse, an injury to Matthews saw him stretchered off the pitch after only 15 minutes, to be replaced by Jacob Adams, making his Stones debut.
The Stones found their feet halfway into the first half and began putting pressure onto the home side. A Cesay shot from a tight angle came ever so close to getting one back, but it skimmed just past the post.
Only a few minutes later, Kretzschmar's shot was blocked before the rebound found Boldewijn, who's shot was cleared by the Rovers defender.
Taylor's side finally found themselves a deserved goal after 42 minutes, McFarlane's first goal for the club after smashing the ball into the top of the net.
New signing on the day, Elliot Thorpe, came on to make his debut 20 minutes into the second half, making an instant impact when his cross reached Jack Cook in the box, but his header sailed narrowly wide.
Adams pulled off an outstanding save to keep the Stones in the game before McFarlane added another to his tally in the 89th minute, with a sublime volley that secured Taylor's side a point.
Next up for the Stones is Barnet at Grosvenor Vale on Saturday 21st September.
