REACTION: "It's Only The Start" - Waddock On Five-Star Stones

GARY WADDOCK cautioned against getting carried away with Wealdstone's recent goal-getting form after his side made it 11 goals in the last three Enterprise National League games after going nap to beat Solihull Moors 5-1 at The Vale.

"Every single one of the players has responded and reacted to what we've been asking of them," he told StonesTV.

"But it's not just me. It's the staff who've played a really important part in it and the players have played an even bigger part in it.

"Everything's coming together but it's only the start. We've got a long way to go to get to where we want to be."

A sunny Spring lunch-time kick-off seemed to suit Stones perfectly. Kicking down the slope in the first 45 once again, the Royals essentially killed the game off with four goals in 15 second-half minutes.

Boss Waddock praised his side's clinical edge, referencing a lack of the same when passing up a glut of chances during the previous home match against Morecambe.

"We've created a lot of chances in the previous games so today the pleasing side of the performance was we took most of them", he said.

"They kept going during the second half and to get that scoreline against a good side was really good.

"We spread the load (of goalscoring) as such, so it's really good not to have to rely just on the front guys."

As well as the variety in names on the scoresheet - with five different goalscorers - there was a difference in how the quintet were created.

Waddock smiled:" They were all different types of goals and that's a real positive.

"He [Connor McAvoy] took it well," said the Stones' boss, referring to the defender's expert flick-header from Nathan Tshikuna's 13th-minute set-piece delivery - the first of the five for the rampant hosts on the day.

"It's impressive to be able to open up an opponent like we did, because Solihull are a good side with good experience in there; they know this level really well.

"We had to find ways to create chances against a side that were trying to make it difficult for us - and we did.

"We kept the ball really well and with had possession with purpose," added Waddock, of a message he's been strongly reiterating ever since his recent arrival.
