REACTION: "It Could Have Been More Than 3-0" - Adarkwa All Smiles After Rovers' Return

SEAN ADARKWA was delighted to be back on the scoresheet - and even more delighted to be able to come onto the pitch with his teammates having all but wrapped up an outstanding Isuzu FA Trophy win at Forest Green Rovers.

The big striker rounded off the goalscoring in Gloucestershire, with a cruel injury lay-off meaning it was his first goal since an early September double over Southend United.

"The gaffer said not to have any fear and go for it just before I came on and I thought there might be a goal for me the way the lads had played so well", smiled the centre-forward, who stroked him in added time having entered the fray on 85 minutes with Wealdstone two to the good.

"The lads who started set the foundation for all us subs who came on. It was about us following their lead and bringing that last bit of energy to help get us over the line.

"Let's be honest; it could have been more than 3-0 because I thought we were by far the better side.

"I believe we've got a good team, a really hard-working group of players - so that's going to give us a good chance, whoever we play."

Adarkwa has suffered from more than his fair share of injury set-backs. Having made just a small handful of appearances last season, this campaign has also been affected - to the point where his last start was on October 1 at Brackley Town.

"I've had to battle against a few injuries for quite a while," admitted the 25-year-old, who featured for the 15th time this term at Forest Green.

"It's tough to have to come back again and again - while watching your teammates training and playing as you're doing gym work.

"Now I'm back in amongst it, it does make you feel better. It makes you feel good, actually."

He added: "I'm still doing extra strengthening work because you tend to focus on one area then another during your rehab. I want to make sure this is a proper return, with no more issues now."

If that's the case, Adarkwa will have to work on his post-match celebrations...

"After running up to the Stones' fans to celebrate with them at the end, Big Moussa [Diarra] said to me that it needs a bit of work.

"I'm hoping I'll be able to get some more practise in soon!

"The fans have always had their song for me and I'm grateful for their support. I heard it loud and clear after my goal, and it gives you a great feeling."
