Preview - Eastbourne Borough (H) - Saturday 9th November

Wealdstone will look to extend their lead at the top of the National League South when the league leaders host Eastbourne Borough at The Vale on Saturday afternoon.

The Stones are seven points clear going into the weekend’s action and Wealdstone Manager Dean Brennan has added Jack Jebb to the midfield on Friday before Saturday's fixture.

“We have a big week next week, so we’ve got decisions to make on selection”, said Brennan on Wednesday ahead of the visit of Eastbourne Borough.

A massive positive for the Stones is that October Player of the Month Billy Clifford and winger Jacob Mendy are both available following suspension.

The addition of Jebb from Welling United will bolster the Stones midfield with more creativity while Michael Phillips still recovers from a hip flexor strain.

Eastbourne have had financial troubles off the pitch in recent weeks and have employed a new manager, Danny Bloor. His inaugural game for the Sports is at The Vale on Saturday.

Brennan on Eastbourne: “There’s no doubt that the players are going to want to impress him [Danny Bloor]”.

The Sports have been strong away from home this season, claiming points from Havant & Waterlooville, Hemel Hempstead and Maidstone United on their travels.

“Their away record isn’t too shabby”, explained Brennan. “They’re a decent outfit.”

Despite their league position, Eastbourne have not lost an away league game since August and the Sports have also won their last four visits to The Vale.

Wealdstone have been in extremely good form in the National League South so far this season, suffering only one defeat in their last 13 league games.

Stones top scorer Ross Lafayette will still be out due to a calf strain, while Phillips is doubtful of returning this weekend.

An on-the-whistle report will be available on the official Wealdstone FC website at full-time on Saturday; you can follow live updates on the official Stones Twitter feed from 3pm.
