News From The Vale
Following a goalless draw at the Vale on Saturday, Sam Cox emphasised the importance of taking the positives from the game.
He was particularly happy with the defensive performance, saying: “A big focus for us recently has been cutting out those naive goals and we can take a lot of positives from keeping another clean sheet.” You can find the full write-up of his post-match interview here.
Congratulations are in order for the Wealdstone FC Women, who picked up their first away win of the season against Frenford & MSA! A brace from Gabi Racut proved to be the difference between the two sides.
Our man in form - Junior Tiensia: Defender Junior Tiensia is the in-form Stones player heading into Wednesday night’s clash.
The 24-year-old started regularly in the opening weeks of the campaign, but has been forced to wait patiently on the bench for an opportunity recently.
This chance came against Leicester City under-21s in the National League Cup, and he has impressed since.
Against the Spitfires, Tiensia did well to keep the dangerous Eastleigh attackers quiet whilst also being one of the Stones’ most dangerous players when going forward.
Sam Cox’s side have lost just one of the seven games that Tiensia has started in all competitions.
Keep it up, Junior!

Like a couple of the other newly-promoted teams, Brackley Town have impressed upon their arrival in the National League.
The Saints had spent years at the top of the sixth tier, first under Kevin Wilkin and then under Gavin Cowan, but they were never quite able to secure promotion. In fact, they built up somewhat of a reputation as a side that could not handle the pressure of the playoffs.
However, they finally managed to put together a perfect campaign last season, winning the league after accumulating 92 points from their 46 league games.
The manager - Gavin Cowan: Cowan was the man whom the Saints’ hierarchy hired in the hopes that he could lead them to promotion.
After finishing in third place in his first campaign in charge, the 44-year-old led the club to the title last season.
His record in charge at St James Park is particularly impressive. Cowan averages a whopping 1.9 points per game over his 119-game stint in charge of the Saints. In that time, they have also won a staggering 56% of their matches.
He has optimised the Saints’ style of play to make their home ground a fortress this season. Only Forest Green Rovers, Boreham Wood and Rochdale have picked up more points at home than Brackley thus far.
The danger man - Connor Hall: Brackley Town’s danger man is undoubtedly striker Connor Hall.
The 27-year-old initially joined the Saints on loan part-way through the 2023/24 campaign, before making the move permanent in the summer of 2024.
He repaid the faith shown in him by the Brackley higher-ups, as he finished last season as their top scorer, scoring 18 goals from 45 league appearances.
Hall has started life in the fifth tier well, scoring five times in 11 games this season. Three of those goals have come in his last four games, making him one of the in-form strikers in the division.
Although he may not be the tallest, the 27-year-old is strong with his back to goal, and he also possesses excellent technical ability and composure.
