Hungry Olomola ready for Aldershot test

Wealdstone No.9 Olufela Olomola is looking forward to playing at Aldershot on Saturday and helping the team bounce back from defeat last time out.

Despite the Shots sitting in 20th, they have enjoyed two wins from their last two home games, scoring eight goals in the process, including an impressive 5-1 win over FC Halifax Town in front of the BT Sport cameras. The Stones, however, have won twice on the road this season.

"Aldershot have had some good results this season so it’s going to be a very tough game," he said. "But it’s a chance to put the Southend result to bed and for me to hopefully get some goals.

“When you look at it in hindsight, it’s two defeats in ten games, so we can’t get too down about it. It’s such a long season and you can’t get too high and too low, so we have to bounce back quickly and move on to the next game.”

The striker, 25, heads into the game at the Recreation Ground edging over closer to peak fitness after getting another 90 minutes under his belt. The striker started the season on fire against Bromley, scoring his debut, but he was injured in the next game at Eastleigh and missed the next four.

“I love playing football and being back out there," he said. "I don’t think I’m quite at my best yet and quite at the form I showed early on, which is frustrating but I’m still building fitness and sharpness and hopefully get back to my best quite soon.”

The former Arsenal and Southampton trainee hopes to add a cutting edge to a Stones side who have only scored ten goals this season.

“We need to show a bit more conviction as a team, we need to test keepers more and look more of a threat," he said. "We get into great areas, but we don’t have enough conviction, that’s something we need to work on.”
