George McLennan signs one-year deal!

Wealdstone FC are delighted to announce that George McLennan has signed a new one-year deal ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The 24-year-old full-back signed to the Stones in September and made two substitute appearances before being forced out of action with a broken ankle.

McLennan made over 30 appearances and won the National League with Cheltenham Town in 2016, where the Robins accumulated 101 points.

The left-back played alongside Stones midfielder Michael Phillips and winger Dan Wishart at Maidstone United in the National League as recently as 2019.

McLennan on penning a new deal: “It’s a great opportunity [to play at Wealdstone] again, I really appreciate Dean [Brennan] giving me another chance.”

The former Maidstone defender represented Scotland at youth-level and also had spells for Gillingham, Reading, Hayes & Yeading United and Sutton United.

Dean Brennan on McLennan: “George is a top left-back, he is proven at National League level where he won the league with Cheltenham.

“He has worked really hard to get back fully fit from his injury last season. We are really looking forward to watching George fly up and down the left-wing for the Stones.”

McLennan joins Jerome Okimo, Billy Clifford, Danny Green, Connor Smith, Ashley Charles, Jake Sheppard, Ross Lafayette and Jacob Mendy who all committed their future to the Stones, as well as new signings Wishart, Charlee Hughes, Danny Parish and Jack Cawley.
