Club Statement: Paul Rumens steps down as President

Wealdstone Football Club wishes to announce that Paul Rumens has stepped down from his role as President.

Paul has been an integral part of Wealdstone Football Club for over three decades. His dedication, passion, and leadership, especially during his tenure as Chairman, have been instrumental in shaping the club into what it is today. Under his tenure, he rescued the club from it’s dark days of administration and near bankruptcy following the loss of our spiritual Lower Mead home.

As the last outright owner of the Stones, Paul dissolved that investment in 2000 thereby creating the club’s new constitution. This allowed fans for the first time in Wealdstone’s history to buy true ownership shares, thus making for a better democratic process going forward into the new millennium.

Most recently, Paul has played a key role in helping secure access to a 19-acre site for our proposed new stadium as well as working with potential partners who may be able to help deliver on our plans.

His contributions have been extensive and deeply impactful, leaving a lasting legacy that will be acknowledged by all associated with the club.

The board of directors extends its heartfelt thanks to Paul for his commitment, efforts, and significant contributions to Wealdstone Football Club. We wish Paul the very best in his future endeavours and look forward to continuing to see him on the terraces for many years to come.

Paul added, "It’s been an honour and privilege to serve the Stones in this capacity for over 22 seasons and would like to thank everyone for making my life just a little bit easier. I look forward to an exciting future ahead with the club bringing the new stadium to fruition - Up The Stones!”

This decision aligns with the club's ongoing efforts to streamline the organisational structure, particularly in light of the exciting developments surrounding our proposed new stadium and extensive discussions with potential investors and partners.

As we navigate this period of significant transformation and opportunity, it is essential to have a clear and simplified leadership structure. This change is a strategic step to ensure the club's continued success and growth as we embark on these promising new ventures.
