Wealdstone FC – Changes to the Executive Board

The club is disappointed to announce that Jon Pettifer, who joined the Board last season, has taken the decision to stand down from the Executive Board. Jon has made the following statement in relation to his departure from the Board.

"It is with regret that I have had to call time on my short period as Director of Wealdstone Football Club. I joined the Board with a view to working with my co-directors to put firm foundations in place from which the club can grow, the club is more than a first team, it’s more than a club, it’s a way of life for many, as custodians of this unique football club we have worked hard over the past year to put a more sustainable approach to the club as businesses in its own right. There is still much to do but we are now heading in the right direction under expert stewardship of Dominic, Nick and Mark with a new Chairman in Rory who continues to impress on every front – the Board have Wealdstone in their DNA, my co-directors are a credit to the club and I feel their tireless work is so undervalued by many.

"During my time we have of course seen changes in Chair and changes in first team management, we have seen highs and lows throughout last season but on a personal note my low came recently when I lost my father to the crippling disease that is Dementia – I have not come to terms with the loss and will continue to struggle, my father was proud that I played for Wealdstone, he was even more proud that I became a Director and put back what Wealdstone put in to me all those years ago. The Exec Lounge will never be the same for me without his presence and it’s for this reason I am stepping down.

"There are good times returning to the club, there is a better and more buoyant atmosphere throughout and I wish the Board and Dean every success for this season.

"Thank you and good luck, UTS!"

The club would like to place on record its thanks to Jon and we hope that we continue to see him as a visitor at The Vale for many years to come. Despite his short time on the Board Jon made a valuable and positive contribution.

We will be making a further announcement on the structure of the Executive Board in the coming weeks.
