Captain Cook issues rallying cry

Captain Jack Cook has underlined just how big tonight's home National League game is against Dorking Wanderers.

Defeat for other side in the clash between 20th and 23th, who are separated by just three points, could be fatal in the fight to stay in the division.

"It's massive," said Cook. "It makes or breaks us. If we beat them then it gives us the confidence to go and beat Chesterfield or Eastleigh and get ourselves out of this mess. We need everyone behind us and hopefully we can get the job done."

Cook took great heart from the spirited performance against Southend United on Tuesday night.

"Everyone fought right to the very end. You can't fault the determination or the will to win. Sometimes the result doesn't go your way, despite the performance. We played well in the last 20 minutes and you could tell by the way the fans cheered us off that they knew we put everything out there."

Intermi manager Sam Cox is also full of belief.

"If the boys show that kind of performance, between now and the end of the season, we'll be ok," said Cox. "We had a reaction and they fought for the badge and fought for the club. The next four games are massive. If we put in a performance like that, with that grit and determination, we'll be ok.

"Belief is the most important thing. I brought the players in early on Tuesday night and told them it's within us, that it's in this changing room. It's about who wants to be on board. They want to fight for this club. We want to keep this football club where it deserves to be and should be."

Dorking will be without top-scorer Jason Prior for the game, Niall McManus is a doubt but Barry Fuller could recover from a knock in time for the game.

“This is a must-win, end of," said manager Marc White who was at The Vale on Tuesday night. "I don’t think I’ve ever called a game must-win before, not even the play-off final was must-win, but this is, that’s the bottom line.”
