Bobby's thoughts ahead of Saturday's FA Cup clash

Sam Watts spoke to Bobby Wilkinson ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup clash against Sutton United.

Wealdstone are preparing to for the visit of Sutton United in a massive FA Cup showdown at Grosvenor Vale on Saturday afternoon. With a place in the 1st Round Proper at stake, Bobby Wilkinson spoke of the challenge the Stones face.

“It’s a very challenging game for us and the players. We’ve worked extremely hard to try and get it right, but we know the task we’re up against.

“We know it’s a considerable challenge and we know it’s going to be a tough game. We are up against a fantastic team with a great manager.”

Wilkinson also spoke of the history of the competition. “The FA Cup is a fantastic place to be, there’s always upsets and it’s all about history, both sides have done special things in the FA Cup over the years and of course more recently for Sutton with that fantastic run two seasons ago.”

Stones have been in good form, winning their last game against Hampton and Richmond, but the manager stressed that form is not a factor.

“Normally week by week it’s about form, but in the FA Cup, it’s about who turns up on the day. It’s a one-off game, that’s what makes it special. It’s not every day you meet an outfit like Sutton.

“We are going to have to be 110% on our game to have a chance, because we know how good Sutton are, but with our great fans behind us we'll always have an edge"
