NEW SIGNING | O's Young loaned to Stones

Wealdstone have completed the loan signing of Leyton Orient midfielder Matt Young, initially until January 2023.

The 19-year old has made 16 first team appearances for the O's so far, making his debut on the final day of the 2020/21 season.

"Matt's a lad that again fits the mould of what we want in a footballer," said Stones boss Stuart Maynard.

"He's highly thought of at Leyton Orient and he played 14 times in League Two last season, so he comes with good experience and he's someone we think we can get even more from.

"Matt's got an unbelievable engine and has a really good footballing brain. He's left footed too which will bring us a nice balance in the midfield."

Young's loan signing boosts an already strong-looking Stones midfield this summer following the signing of Tarryn Allarakhia and new contracts for Ashley Charles and Alex Dyer.

"He's an exciting player that will now give us a midfield that is very strong for a club like ours. It was an area we wanted to keep improving, and with Ferguson, Charles, Young, Tarryn and Dyer, we're very strong from day one in that department.

"We're delighted to have Matt on board and I know we've got ourselves a really talented player."

We thank Leyton Orient for their co-operation in loaning us some of their top-rated talent and look forward to welcoming Matt to Grosvenor Vale.
