LOAN NEWS | Stones loan in Taylor and emergency Sargeant

Wealdstone have made the double loan signing of striker Douglas Taylor and goalkeeper Sam Sargeant from EFL Clubs Stoke City and Leyton Orient.

Taylor joins the Stones on a one-month youth loan from the EFL Championship side. The 20-year old joined the Potters in 2020 after a prolific spell up front in Salford City's academy system.

Camden-born Taylor has been a regular in Stoke's U23s this season, spectacularly netting a seven-minute hat-trick against Southend United U23s in the Premier League Cup in November.

The imposing centre forward has yet to make a first team appearance and is in line to make his senior debut with the Stones.

Sargeant joins on an emergency seven-day loan from the EFL League Two side. The keeper broke through the O's academy system, making his debut as a teenager in May 2016 in a League Two match against Yeovil Town.

He has made 30 more appearances at the O's since, being part of their squad that won them promotion from the National League in 2019.

The 24-year old has spent time out on loan at Margate, Leatherhead and most recently at Barnet where he made 10 appearances in the first two months of the National League season.

Both players go straight into tonight's squad to face Boreham Wood with Sam wearing the number 21 shirt and Douglas donning the 22 shirt.
