James Gray joins Stones Management Team

Former Wealdstone centre half and skipper Jimmy Gray has joined up again with the club that he reluctantly left in 2010, this time as a member of Gordon Bartlett’s management team. The very popular Yorkshireman made over 100 appearances for the Stones and scored 11 goals and endeared himself to the fans during the early years at The Vale with his never say die attitude and combative style of play

Jimmy said: ” I’m over the moon to be honest. I think I’ve been away about six or seven years now, done my own thing and an opportunity has arisen, Gordon’s invited me in and I’m looking forward to a new challenge to be honest. I’ve known Gordon a long time now, I know how he works, obviously I’m coming back in a different capacity but I’m pretty honoured to be honest, to be coming in to a club that’s really close to my heart, I had a great three/four years at Wealdstone and I’m looking forward to the challenge of trying to get them to the promised land of the National League Premier’

He added: “Gordon’s got together a cracking squad here that had a little dip during the middle part of last season but they finished really strongly and I know quite a lot of the players down there, he’s got a lot of experienced players that know that league and I think they can have a good crack at it this year, obviously I think the expectation from people down there is that they should be pushing at least for a play-off position this year which is exciting for me to come and be part of. I’ll bring my experiences of what I’ve down over the past five years in management and hopefully I can add something to it”

Gordon Bartlett said: ” I’m delighted to have Jimmy on board. As an ex ‘Stone’ everyone within the club knows he has the right character and has the winning mentality to help take us forward. He totally understands what Wealdstone is all about and with his all-round experience I’m confident he will have a big influence as we push to improve on last season”
