General Manager Up-date
In yesterday’s programme for our match versus Oxford City Nick DuGard provided an up-date on activities and actions which is set-out below for all to see:

Our Operational Group met for an initial meeting on 24th January and I was able to outline the background to my role and its objectives and how the team can help support and co-ordinate. It was a positive and very encouraging meeting with lots of action outcomes.

Group members are: Gordon McKay, Jez Albert, Mark Randall, James Klarfeld, Steve Marshall, Chris Woods and Alan Hill.

There is a mass of activities and work that requires improved co-ordination and support and as I said in my previous notes it is going to be important to try to prioritise and take matters step by step.

Topics covered at that meeting included a look at planned ground development and how we can support that work. A key area of discussion and action was focussed on how we can support Steve Marshall better in undertaking his match day duties and that is why we have appealed for more match day volunteers – please do come forward to help us if you want to become more involved with club activities.

Other areas covered included turnstile operation, fundraising opportunities and Jez Albert is taking a lead on supporting the planning for the important Paul Merson Evening event on April 8th. Other potential events were discussed and James Klarfeld will report back on these.

Communication improvements with other areas of the club was  discussed and I have been having good talks with various people over this important aspect.

As in any business it is about interaction with people and trying to reach a sensible rate of change within resources available – and that invariably comes down to volunteer help.

Part of my other responsibilities at the club is being joint Chairman of the Supporters Club and I also attended a meeting of that committee last week to look at improving and supporting various activities. Mark Randall as joint Chairman of WFCSC is also part of the new Operational Group.

We have a vacancy for a specialist Marketing person on our Group – please see me if you think you have the commitment and some time to help us.

One project I am currently involved with, in conjunction with Leo Morris, is to take up an opportunity to realise more income from our Car Park with a specialist outside company and I have started work on a feasibility study for a new Sponsors Lounge. More Social Functions are being planned across the club.

I will be attending the upcoming main club AGM so please ask any questions then or at any time.
